Samsung Electronics Enters a Strong Recovery Phase, Eyeing a Potential Rebound Past Recent Lows

Market Overview: Four Consecutive Days of Gains

Samsung Electronics has successfully engineered a sharp market rebound, closing higher for four consecutive sessions and signaling a decisive escape from its previous cyclical lows.

As of the close on August 14, 2026, Samsung Electronics finished at 274,500 KRW, registering a remarkable 32.6% surge compared to its closing price of 207,000 KRW recorded on July 30. This marks the first time the tech giant has logged four straight days of upward momentum since June 18, when shares traded at 362,500 KRW.

The recent upward trajectory comes after a prolonged period of weakness driven by overlapping global headwinds, including lingering anxieties over artificial intelligence (AI) overvaluation, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, and fluctuations in U.S. interest rates. However, market sentiment has rapidly shifted as these macro concerns subside, paving the way for a solid structural recovery.

Key Growth Drivers & Market Analysis

1. Alleviation of "AI Bubble" Fears and Surging Infrastructure Demand
Earlier concerns regarding a potential peak in AI spending have been thoroughly dismantled by aggressive infrastructure expansion plans from global tech heavyweights (hyperscalers). According to recent reports by Morgan Stanley, major players such as Meta, Oracle, Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon are projected to pour a staggering $3.5 trillion (approx. 4,980 trillion KRW) into AI infrastructure over the next three years through 2028.

Furthermore, industry momentum has been amplified by concrete financial commitments across the semiconductor ecosystem. NVIDIA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with six major financial institutions to establish a $500 billion AI infrastructure financial platform, while Intel successfully secured strong competitive demand for its latest foundry-focused capital raise.

2. Prolonged Memory Shortages and Rising ASPs
The supply-demand dynamics for memory semiconductors continue to heavily favor manufacturers. Analysts project that tight supply conditions for DRAM and High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) will persist well into 2028.

"DRAM supply will remain critically tight through 2028, and continuous price hikes for HBM will ensure that the Average Selling Price (ASP) for standard DRAM maintains a firm upward slope," noted Kim Young-gun, an analyst at Mirae Asset Securities.

3. Alleviated Credit Risks and Robust Shareholder Returns
Market technicians note that the steep sell-off observed between June and July effectively flushed out excessive retail and institutional credit leverage, clearing the path for healthier price discovery. Additionally, anticipated structural catalysts—such as OpenAI's widely expected initial public offering (IPO)—are projected to inject fresh liquidity and alleviate lingering doubts regarding ongoing sector investments.

On the corporate governance front, Samsung's renewed dedication to shareholder value has reinforced a strong valuation floor. The company has reaffirmed its policy to allocate 50% of its Free Cash Flow (FCF) toward shareholder returns, translating into attractive estimated dividend yields of 6.2% for this year and 9.6% for next year. Financial experts emphasize that such robust shareholder returns act as a vital cushion against macro-driven market volatility.

Outlook and Target Prices

Buoyed by these compounding tailwinds, major financial institutions have adjusted their outlooks. While short-term downward revisions were briefly issued by cautious brokerages like BNK Investment & Securities in late July, leading institutions remain highly bullish. Most notably, KB Securities maintains an aggressive target price of 600,000 KRW, underpinning predictions that Samsung Electronics is transitioning into a structural re-rating phase.

With memory margins expanding, foundry operations tracking toward profitability, and concrete structural catalysts locking in bottom support, market observers agree that Samsung Electronics is well-positioned to command a dominant leadership role in the next cycle of the global tech economy.
