The Jeonbuk State Cultural and Tourism Foundation (led by CEO Lee Kyung-yoon) announced that it joined hands with the Korea National Park Service Western Regional Headquarters to conduct a coastal stream cleanup and habitat preservation volunteer activity at the Gyokpo District of Byeonsanbando National Park.

This collaborative initiative was organized to address marine and land debris that threaten local coastal ecosystems, restore the natural habitats of native species, and strengthen regional cooperation for environmental preservation. 

On September 15, participants gathered to clear trash and plastic waste from the coastal streams and surrounding areas in Gyokpo-ri, Buan-gun. Prior to the cleanup, volunteers received an educational briefing on special protection zones within the park, including the historic Susangdang Shrine and the natural habitat of Asian silver-backed trees (Machilus thunbergii). Following the cleanup, the participants engaged in a habitat conservation campaign, creating handmade paper pickets to promote awareness of climate change response and carbon neutrality.

The cleanup site holds significant ecological value as a habitat for endangered wildlife species such as the Pythia fujianensis (a rare species of snail) and mud fiddler crabs, alongside the nationally designated natural monument Machilus thunbergii forest. This activity served as an important platform to protect vulnerable species and educate the public on regional biodiversity.

Choi Young-gyu, Secretary General of the Foundation, stated, "This activity is deeply meaningful as our executives and staff directly explored the local ecosystem and worked hand-in-hand with local residents to practice environmental conservation. Moving forward, we will continue to expand our ESG management efforts through close cooperation with regional partner organizations to benefit both the environment and the local community."

Building upon this success, the Foundation plans to institutionalize regular environmental cleanup drives and ecological preservation projects led by its employees. Furthermore, the organization aims to broaden its social contribution scope by operating ESG booths that offer cultural and arts education kits for local elderly residents, as well as hosting charity donation drives and employee flea markets to foster sustainable regional development.
