Political movements are intensifying ahead of the 2025 local elections. Notably, José Ocampo, the current president of CAPASA (Paraguayan Sugarcane Association), is being mentioned as a candidate for Asunción mayor, drawing significant attention.

José Ocampo, president of CAPASA, is consistently being considered as a candidate for Asunción mayor due to his outstanding academic background, intellectual capabilities, and successful management as CAPASA president.

In a broadcast interview, Ocampo stated, "It is a great honor that my name is being mentioned as a candidate. Although I have not received a formal proposal yet, if one comes, I would gladly accept it as a significant challenge in my life." He added that being considered a candidate itself is a great honor.

Simultaneously with the candidate mentions, Ocampo claimed that personal attacks against him have increased, which he attributes to the natural phenomenon of the approaching election season. He noted that attacks are particularly focused on CAPASA's financial issues.

Ocampo emphasized, "CAPASA had previously recorded losses of 68 billion guaraníes (approximately 12 billion KRW) and was incurring annual losses of 3.6 billion guaraníes (approximately 640 million KRW). We had to rectify this and normalize the company through investments."

Meanwhile, in addition to José Ocampo, several other figures, including Federico Mora, Luis Fernando Bernal, and Óscar Rodríguez, are being mentioned as candidates for Asunción mayor.
