A Thai family came and had a meal at Dongdaemun Cherry Garden. When they saw the banknote featuring the face of the late King Bhumibol that a tourist had left behind some time ago, they looked delighted. Smiling, they placed another banknote featuring the face of the former king's son under the table. The Thai people I have experienced so far have generally been gentle and kind.
One commonality is that they deeply respect the late King Bhumibol. However, everyone keeps silent about his son. I also well understand the meaning behind that silence. Sometimes I wonder how much longer Thailand will exist as a monarchy, because Thai young people are becoming educated and awakening. When I went to Bangkok some time ago, both the pros and cons of Thailand were very visible to me.
