Renowned South Korean Catholic priest, Fr. Moon Kyuh-hyun, will be hosting a book launch event for his memoir, "Where Are You?", in Jeonju and Gunsan on the 23rd and 27th of this month, respectively. The event is organized by the Jeonbuk Writers' Association.

Fr. Moon, known for his lifelong dedication to peace, justice, and the sanctity of life, will share personal anecdotes, reflections on his journey, and his experiences as a priest. The book, a collaborative effort between Fr. Moon and a group of four language teachers, offers a candid look into his life and his unwavering commitment to social activism.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about Jeonbuk's great elder, Fr. Moon Kyuh-hyun, a man who has always walked ahead of the masses on the difficult path," said Yu Kang-hee, president of the Jeonbuk Writers' Association. "We encourage everyone to come and learn more about Fr. Moon, both as a priest and as a human being."

Born in Iksan, North Jeolla Province, Fr. Moon gained national attention in 1989 when he crossed the Military Demarcation Line at Panmunjeom, hand-in-hand with Im Soo-kyung, a student activist who had participated in the World Festival of Youth and Students in Pyongyang. However, those who know him well often refer to him as the "street priest," a title earned through his tireless efforts to advocate for the marginalized and downtrodden.

In 2003, Fr. Moon embarked on a 65-day pilgrimage from Buan to Gwanghwamun, Seoul, crawling on his hands and knees to protest the nuclear power plant construction in Buan. In 2008, he led a 124-day pilgrimage from Jirisan to Imjingak, opposing the Four Major Rivers Restoration Project. Throughout his life, Fr. Moon has organized numerous pilgrimages, emphasizing the importance of peace, life, and human dignity.

The book launch events will provide an opportunity for the public to engage in a dialogue with Fr. Moon and gain a deeper understanding of his life and work.
