Topic: Accepting unpublished photos under the theme of coffee culture from August 1 to September 4
Scope: Art photography capturing diverse coffee cultures from South Korea and around the world
Hosted by the Ethiopia Bat Association and co-organized by the Ethiopia Bat Association, the Chuncheon Branch of the Photography Association of Korea, and the Philosophy Research Institute at Kangwon National University, the ‘16th Ethiopia-gil World Festival & Meskel Festival – 2026 World Coffee Culture Art Photography Contest’ is officially underway.
This contest was designed to connect people globally through photographs that capture the diverse and charming coffee cultures of South Korea and various countries worldwide.
The submission criteria require unpublished works related to coffee culture (including smartphone photos). Submissions can cover a wide range of coffee-related topics, including cultivation, harvesting, secondary production post-harvest, distribution, roasting, preparation, and consumption. Each participant may submit up to two entries, and there is no entry fee.
The application period runs from Saturday, August 1, 2026, to Friday, September 4, 2026 (based on arrival date). Entries can be submitted by mail or in person to: Ethiopia Korea War Memorial Hall, 1 Ethiopia-gil, Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, Zip Code 24238.
Judging will be conducted publicly on Monday, September 7 by three appointed professional judges. Results will be posted on the official website (www.ethiopiabat.org) and sent via individual text messages on the same day.
Awards & Prizes
Grand Prize (1 entry): ₩500,000 Gift Voucher & Ethiopia Bat Association Chairperson Award
Excellence Award (1 entry): ₩200,000 Gift Voucher & Chairperson Award
Special Selection (3 entries): ₩100,000 Gift Voucher each & Chairperson Award
Selected Works (15 entries): Additional prizes & Chairperson Award
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 27 at 2:00 PM at the ‘Munhwa-ui Sup Square’ in Gongjicheon, Chuncheon.
The winning works will be displayed across two exhibitions. The first exhibition will run from Saturday, September 19 to Thursday, September 24 at the KNU Humanities & Philosophy Hall. The second exhibition will take place from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, September 27 at the Gongjicheon Munhwa-ui Sup Square before moving to a mobile exhibition.
An official from the organizing committee stated, "We look forward to the enthusiastic interest and active participation of photography enthusiasts nationwide."
