Mayor Cho Sang-ho Shares Insights on Agricultural Fields at a Young Farmer Empathy and Communication Event

Sejong Special Self-Governing City Mayor Cho Sang-ho spent time communicating with young farmers in Sejong, discussing the future direction of agricultural development and improvements needed in agricultural fields.

The Sejong Agricultural Technology Center held the "2026 Young Farmer Capacity Building Workshop" for young farmers belonging to the Sejong 4-H Federation from the 22nd to the 23rd.

The Sejong 4-H Federation is a learning organization consisting of 44 young farmers fostered by the Sejong Agricultural Technology Center, operating to help young people stably settle in rural areas and cultivate their qualities as professional agriculturalists.

The "Young Farmer Empathy and Communication Event," featuring direct dialogue between Mayor Cho Sang-ho and young farmers, took place on the 22nd, the first day of the workshop, in the main conference room of City Hall with about 20 attendees, including young farmers and related public officials.

At this gathering, the Sejong 4-H Federation introduced major activities such as ▲ cases of young farmers working as agricultural expert instructors and ▲ case studies of central-level youth exchange events, while also sharing difficulties experienced in farming fields, such as labor shortages.

In addition, they expressed high expectations for the city’s agricultural policies aimed at strengthening the settlement and growth foundation of young farmers based on harmonious agriculture where urban and rural areas grow together.

Mayor Cho Sang-ho stated, "I am well aware that passion and a challenging spirit alone cannot solve all the difficulties in farming fields," adding, "We will strive to lay the foundation so that young people can find hope in agriculture and stably settle and grow."

Following the communication event, workshop participants visited the Iksan and Jeonju areas in Jeollabuk-do, visiting Harim Group and institutions related to the Rural Development Administration to explore agricultural and food industry sites and the latest agricultural technologies, thereby broadening their understanding and perspective on agriculture.

During the workshop period, participants are scheduled to strengthen communication and cooperation through capacity-building education, various experiential activities, and sharing experiences and information among members.
