Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Economy and Planning has joined forces with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to enhance economic and social policy planning, with a strong focus on sustainable development.
The agreement, signed by Hattan Bin Samman and Nahid Hussein, aims to align with Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom's ambitious development plan. By strengthening national policy development and fostering knowledge exchange, the partnership seeks to accelerate the achievement of the Kingdom's economic and social goals.
The collaboration will empower Saudi Arabia to enhance its institutional capabilities and showcase its progress on the global stage. This initiative is particularly timely as Riyadh hosts COP16, a significant event focused on addressing global environmental challenges, including drought and desertification.
Abdulrahman Al-Fadli, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment and incoming COP16 president, emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing these pressing issues. The Kingdom aims to leverage COP16 to foster international cooperation and secure concrete outcomes, including the Riyadh Policy Declaration.
UNDP, as the UN's lead agency for international development, brings its expertise and resources to support Saudi Arabia's efforts. By working together, both parties aim to create a more sustainable and prosperous future for the Kingdom and the world.
