Seogwipo City is set to implement a tailored job program for people with disabilities, investing 4.98 billion won this year to provide opportunities for 486 individuals, aimed at supporting their income and expanding their social participation.
The city, in collaboration with five private executing agencies, will offer various job opportunities at community centers and social welfare facilities, including office assistance, program support, environmental maintenance, D&D care, and parking guidance.
The detailed projects include:
Full-time (40 hours/week, 2,447,000 won/month): 20 individuals
Part-time (20 hours/week, 1,223,000 won/month): 33 individuals
Welfare jobs (56 hours/month, 655,000 won/month): 422 individuals
Dispatch of visually impaired masseurs (25 hours/week, 1,534,000 won/month): 4 individuals
Support for caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities (25 hours/week, 1,534,000 won/month): 7 individuals
This year, the city has expanded its executing agencies, adding seven new placement institutions, including Onseong School, Samda Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, and IT Digital Learning Center. Furthermore, the city plans to develop new job roles beyond the existing environmental maintenance and parking guidance, such as peer counseling and D&D care (where individuals with disabilities support the daily lives of other individuals with disabilities).
Ryu Geon-suk, head of the Senior and Disabled Persons Division of Seogwipo City, stated, "We will develop this job program to enable people with disabilities to feel a sense of accomplishment as members of society by developing various job roles tailored to their specific needs."
