Volvo Cars Korea has officially launched its Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) SUVs, the XC60 PHEV and XC90 PHEV, in the domestic market, leading the expansion of the sustainable premium mobility market. This new energy vehicle (NEV) launch, coupled with Volvo Cars Korea's "Being Alive" campaign, goes beyond simply introducing new vehicles; it re-affirms Volvo's strong commitment to safety and environmental protection.

A senior official from Volvo Cars Korea emphasized that the new PHEV models perfectly embody the Scandinavian brand's core values of safety, performance, and aesthetics. The XC60 PHEV, in particular, is designed to shine in both its versatility and everyday usability, as well as in critical moments, protecting what is valuable. This suggests that it is a high-quality SUV optimized for drivers who prioritize smart performance and responsible leadership.

XC90 PHEV: Electrified Innovation of Volvo's Flagship SUV

Volvo's flagship SUV, the XC90 PHEV, was developed with a focus on thoughtful design, intelligent engineering, and paramount safety. The XC90 PHEV model launched in the Korean market, like the XC60, offers both excellent eco-friendliness and Volvo's unique premium value.

The XC90 PHEV goes beyond a mere mode of transportation; it symbolizes a commitment to raising the bar for responsibility and caring for people, driving meaningful change on the roads and in society.

'Being Alive' Campaign: Volvo's Effort to Achieve 'Vision Zero'

Volvo Cars Korea is actively rolling out its "Being Alive" campaign in conjunction with the launch of the new PHEV models. This initiative, which began in early June, is a groundbreaking effort to significantly reduce the number of road-related fatalities in Korea, aligning with Volvo's global goal of 'Vision Zero'.

'Vision Zero' is Volvo's long-term vision to create a world free from serious injuries or fatalities on the roads. It aims not only to emphasize the inherent safety of Volvo vehicles but also to promote a safety-first mindset among all road users, including drivers, pedestrians, and commuters. It stresses that achieving truly safe roads requires not only technological advancements in vehicles but also a collective effort where everyone shares responsibility and makes conscious decisions.

'Being Alive' Campaign's Multi-faceted Approach:

Collaboration with Academic Institutions: Strategic cooperation with Korea University (or other major domestic academic institutions) to establish the Volvo Safety Lab, fostering innovation in road safety.
Public Participation: Directly conveying the importance of safety and building consensus through public awareness campaigns such as Road Safety Summits, community activities, and the "Volvo's First" video series. This video series illuminates the importance of safety from a human perspective, resonating deeply.
Through the "Being Alive" campaign, Volvo Cars Korea is confident in a future where safety becomes a deeply ingrained cultural value to be shared and upheld by all, empowering people to live life to the fullest. This is the value Volvo pursues and its ultimate goal.

The launch of the XC60 PHEV and XC90 PHEV marks a significant turning point, demonstrating Volvo Cars Korea's strengthened leadership in the eco-friendly premium automotive market and its progress towards achieving the ambitious goal of 'Vision Zero.' Volvo's continuous efforts for a sustainable future are expected to invigorate the domestic automotive market.
