Taean, South Korea — The Chungnam Cultural and Tourism Foundation (led by Acting President Lee Han-soo) has announced that it will host the 2026 LaTierra Festival on Saturday, November 7, running from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM around the Chungnam Creative Studio in the Taean Enterprise City area.
Named after LaTierra, the Spanish word for "The Land" and the official brand name of the Taean Enterprise City, this marks the second iteration of the festival following its successful inaugural run last year, which drew approximately 2,000 visitors and achieved a 97.1 satisfaction score. This year’s event expands upon its predecessor by integrating performing arts, interactive experiences, marine healing, leisure, and regional gastronomy into a cohesive stay-over cultural tourism program.
An Immersive Theme Park Experience with Diverse Stages
Organized like a giant theme park, the festival grounds are split into distinct zones—Stage, Art, and Play—allowing visitors to freely navigate and experience various programs:
Stage Zone (All-Day Performances): Six diverse acts will perform throughout the day, starting with a circus and magic show by the In-In-In Cooperative at 10:00 AM, followed by dynamic percussion from Jamstick (11:30 AM) and traditional folk performances by the Tteunswe Arts Troupe (1:00 PM). The lineup continues with popera by Yoon Art, fusion gugak by Dong-Eum and Chazan, and a grand finale by the brass band Mr. Brass at 6:20 PM.
Art Zone (Hands-On Experiences): Running from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, visitors of all ages can enjoy nine different free drop-in craft activities, including face painting, making companion stone dolls, keyrings, bead bracelets, mini flower pots, slime, mini kites, griptoks, and custom umbrella painting.
Open Studios: Visitors can tour the actual workspaces of resident artists at the Chungnam Creative Studio, gaining a rare behind-the-scenes look at the region’s creative infrastructure.
Family Sports Day: Kicking off at 2:00 PM, family teams can participate in fun activities such as OX quizzes (featuring trivia about Taean Enterprise City), hula-hoop relays, and ring toss.
Enhanced Stay-Over and Wellness Programs
A major highlight of the 2026 festival is the introduction of a special Healing Package designed to extend visitors' stays and connect them with Taean's premier wellness assets.
Participants who register in advance can take a dedicated shuttle bus to the Taean Marine Healing Center for wellness programs utilizing local marine resources, followed by an outdoor barbecue party back at the festival site starting at 5:30 PM. To prevent no-shows while supporting the local economy, the package requires a modest 20,000 KRW reservation deposit, which is fully refunded on-site as Taean local currency vouchers.
Interactive Events and Visitor Perks
Guests can also participate in the "LaTierra Passport" stamp tour, collecting stamps across the zones to enter a grand prize drawing featuring home appliances such as wireless vacuum cleaners and food waste disposers. Additional attractions include instant photo booths, SNS verification coffee giveaways, and balloon distributions for children.
Acting President Lee Han-soo stated, "The LaTierra Festival serves as a cultural tourism convergence model that connects the Chungnam Creative Studio with the diverse leisure and tourism assets of Taean Enterprise City. By strengthening our wellness and culinary programs this year, we hope families can enjoy a truly memorable day exploring both the arts and nature."
Admission to the festival is free, though the Marine Healing Center package and BBQ party require prior registration. For more information and schedules, visit the official website of the Chungnam Cultural and Tourism Foundation.
