The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization (hereinafter referred to as the "KTO") will hold a public participation event starting October 1, allowing people to enjoy the attractions selected through the “Korea’s 100x100 Hidden Attractions Discovery Project” (hereinafter referred to as "100x100") in more unique ways. This event targets 9,883 attractions (6,336 excluding duplicates) ultimately selected through a public vote involving approximately 40,000 citizens.
First, the "Pro Wanderer's Stamp Breaking," which concluded with great success last summer, will return with an "Autumn Edition" running from October 1 to November 1. This "Pro Wanderer's Stamp Breaking - Autumn Edition" features four customized themes: ▲ Sunset Autumn Healing Drive, ▲ Running along National Silver Grass and Foliage Trails, ▲ Discovering Ancient Trees Carrying Time and Stories, and ▲ Conquering "K-Mountains" to Find Autumn Mountains and Arboretums. Participants can join the event by visiting 100x100 attractions that match these themes and completing on-site authentication.
From October 1 to October 30, the "Funny-Sad Travel Photo Festival," where people can share humorous mishaps that occurred during their travels, will also take place. Participation is complete by uploading funny, unforgettable photos taken at 100x100 attractions along with short episodes to the website. Anyone can easily participate with "funny-sad" travel photos that they might usually delete, such as photos with closed eyes, blurry ruined shots, or shots where the background is awkwardly blocked. The KTO will select 50 outstanding participants and present them with "Funny-Sad Travel Photo Goods T-shirts" featuring prints of their submitted photos.
Additionally, starting in November, the KTO plans to continuously introduce various follow-up events linked with 100x100 attractions, such as the "Nook-and-Cranny Meow-Woof Tour" for pet-owning households. All events can be easily participated in through the "Korea Every Corner" linked website (www.spot100x100.kr).
Kim Seok, Head of the Domestic Tourism Division at the KTO, stated, “The 100x100 project introduces a variety of attractions chosen directly by the public as new travel options,” adding, “This autumn, rather than just rushing to a destination and coming back, we hope people will discover new travel spots in their own way by breaking stamps and leaving behind unexpected photos.”
