Global K-Bunsik marketing campaign rolled out, including influencer promotions for the Gumi Ramyeon Festival in November
The Korea Tourism Organization (President Park Sung-hyuk, hereinafter referred to as the "KTO"), along with Buk-gu in Daegu Metropolitan City and the cities of Gimcheon and Gyeongbuk's Gumi, is carrying out overseas PR marketing to foster Bunsik festivals held in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions into global tourism contents and expand regional visits.
The KTO noted that Taiwanese tourists account for the largest proportion of inbound foreign tourists entering through the Daegu International Airport and Gimhae International Airport, and that Taiwan has a strong interest in Korean food and a thick layer of gourmet travel demand. Accordingly, customized tourism products were planned in connection with regional festivals in Daegu and Gyeongbuk themed around representative Korean Bunsik such as tteokbokki and gimbap.
Starting last September, the KTO's Taipei Office cooperated with major local travel agencies in Taiwan to introduce K-Bunsik festival-themed Korea tour products, attracting 145 Taiwanese tourists. They are scheduled to visit the Daegu Tteokbokki Festival and the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival from the 23rd to the 24th to enjoy various K-Bunsik items and experience Korean food culture.
Viral marketing will also be expanded to raise the global brand awareness of Bunsik festivals imbued with unique Korean sentiments. Influencers will be invited not only to the Daegu Tteokbokki Festival and Gimcheon Gimbap Festival, but also to the Gumi Ramyeon Festival scheduled to be held this November, to convey the vivid atmosphere of the festivals. The influencers will spread the charm of Korean Bunsik festivals through their respective social media channels.
Min Byung-sun, Head of the Tourism Industry Division at the KTO, stated, "This attempt is of great significance in that it increased regional tourism accessibility in connection with local airports and commercialized regional tourism resources centered around a single Bunsik festival theme." He added, "The KTO will continue to do its best to discover distinctive regional tourism resources, foster them into global tourism contents, and lead to expanded regional visits and the creation of demand for visiting Korea."
