The 2026 Sejong Bohemian Music Festival, hosted by the Sejong City Foundation for Arts and Culture (led by Acting President Park Young-guk), successfully wrapped up its run, drawing a record-breaking 28,000 attendees despite unfavorable weather conditions.

Held from Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1 at the Urban Festival Plaza in Sejong Central Park, the three-day festival received an enthusiastic response, including a sold-out Saturday show. According to satisfaction surveys, visitors from outside Sejong accounted for 80% of the audience, demonstrating that the festival—now in its 5th anniversary—has grown into a nationwide music celebration.

A Milestone 5th Anniversary with Iconic Lineups

This year’s festival featured special performances celebrating the past five years of growth. Nell, the headliner of the inaugural festival, returned to the stage, while Silica Gel—who performed as a rising rookie in the first edition—returned as a headliner amidst their world tour, highlighting a shared journey of growth. They were joined by a stellar lineup including Jaurim, Kirara, Oystrz, and Sanbo, enriching the musical experience.

Interactive Programs and Eco-Friendly Initiatives

Audience-engaging contents unique to Sejong also drew strong responses. The festival promoted eco-friendly values through a campaign song and music video produced in collaboration with the Sejong Music Creation Center-supported musician "Shepherd Boys." Additionally, the "Bohemian Dance," performed collectively to the official festival song, provided festival-goers with an unforgettable experience.

Boosting Local Economy and Community Partnership

Efforts to foster local synergy were expanded this year. A "Parasol Stage" was newly established in the waiting area to offer performance opportunities to local musicians, while food and beverage collaborations were extended to local businesses and organizations. Specialty menus such as Sejong Padak (fried chicken with green onions), Sejong Kim-Pi-Tang (kimchi, pork, and sweet and sour cheese dish), and Bohemian Tacos created a festival where local music and cuisine harmonized.

Economic impact analyses revealed positive outcomes for the regional economy. According to consumer expenditure surveys, the average spending per visitor within Sejong City was estimated at approximately 65,000 KRW, generating an estimated 1.8 billion KRW in direct consumer spending overall. The high proportion of out-of-town visitors indicates that the festival has successfully established itself as a cultural tourism content that draws external spending into the region.

Expanded Cultural Access and High Satisfaction

The festival also expanded citizens' access to culture. The traditional free eve-of-festival event was upgraded into a full-scale official concert, making it a three-day ticketed event while keeping Friday free exclusively for Sejong residents. Organizers ensured stable operations by expanding viewing areas and continuously monitoring site conditions to safely proceed with performances despite Sunday's rain.

Reflecting these efforts, overall audience satisfaction scored an impressive 4.6 out of 5, with 96.9% of respondents expressing their intention to revisit. First-time visitors accounted for 51.7%, proving both sustained loyalty from existing fans and successful attraction of new audiences.

Kim Nam-sun, Head of the Performance Business Division at the Sejong City Foundation for Arts and Culture, remarked, "It is deeply meaningful that a festival which started with humble beginnings has grown together with the audience over the past five years. Sejong, once ironically dubbed a 'no-fun city,' is now transforming into a destination people travel nationwide to visit for music festivals, making this milestone all the more significant."

She added, "We will continue to strive to live up to the descriptions given by our audience—'peaceful, romantic, friendly, and pleasant.' We look forward to keeping the special moments of the Sejong Bohemian Music Festival alive, created together by musicians, audiences, local small business owners, and citizens."
