Chungnam Province announced on the 21st that it has received a donation of 100 million won from the Manhee Welfare Foundation, which has consistently practiced sharing to stabilize the livelihoods of vulnerable groups in the province for the past 30 years.
The donation ceremony, held at the main auditorium of the Chungnam Support Center for Childcare, was attended by about 150 people, including Governor Park Soo-hyun, Manhee Welfare Foundation Chairman Park Hyung-man, Chungnam Community Chest of Korea Chairman Sung Woo-jong, and livelihood support recipients.
During the ceremony, a total of 100 million won in livelihood support funds was distributed to 100 vulnerable individuals recommended by city and county offices, with 1 million won awarded to each recipient.
This funding is provided through a designated donation via the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea. Reflecting the hometown affection and philanthropic vision of Chairman Park Hyung-man—who is a native of Gongju—50 recipients were selected from vulnerable groups in the Gongju area, while the remaining 50 were chosen based on regional basic livelihood security recipient statistics.
Chairman Park began his philanthropic activities in 1997 to help neighbors in need in his hometown and has continued his dedication to sharing for 30 years. Following the donation ceremony, he further added meaning to his philanthropy by joining the Chungnam 210th chapter of the "Honor Society," a high-donor club operated by the Chungnam Community Chest of Korea.
Over the years, Chairman Park has continuously provided livelihood support funds for vulnerable groups such as low-income families, elderly people living alone, and individuals with disabilities, while also supporting facilities for the disabled and local schools.
Since 2015, he has expanded his reach as far as Los Angeles (LA), USA, practicing the values of sharing beyond borders by providing livelihood support and scholarships to vulnerable residents locally.
In 2022, he signed a business partnership agreement with Gongju City to continue his livelihood support projects for neighbors facing hardships in the region.
"I would like to express my deepest respect and gratitude to Chairman Park Hyung-man, who has unswervingly practiced sharing for neighbors in need over a long span of 30 years," said Governor Park Soo-hyun. "The sharing that began with a warm heart for his hometown is now transcending national borders and bringing hope to even more neighbors."
He emphasized, "In the era of advanced artificial intelligence (AI), the value of human-centric care and consideration becomes even more crucial. The provincial government will also do its utmost to ensure that these hands of sharing reach the places where they are needed most, providing practical help to the lives of our residents."
