[GLOBAL ECONOMIC TIMES]  On October 29, 2022, the Itaewon disaster left deep scars on Korean society. The disaster occurred at the festival where young people had gone with hopes and dreams, leaving the entire nation immersed in sadness and anger. However, as time passes, this disaster seems to be increasingly forgotten. A more serious problem is the government's irresponsible attitude.

Although the public's voice for the cause of the disaster is growing louder, the government is still unable to clearly identify responsibility. The public is angry at the seeming attempt to cover up the incident. They want to know the truth about what happened at the scene of the disaster and who is responsible. However, the government continues to evade responsibility and does not even properly apologize or offer comfort to the victims.

To those in power, the death and suffering of the people seems to be considered an everyday occurrence. There is no heart to cover the pain, no feeling of regret, no remorse. They are anxious to pass on responsibility and avoid problems as if it were not their fault. This kind of government is causing great disappointment to the people.

The government has an obligation to take responsibility for the lives and safety of its citizens. However, this disaster clearly revealed the government's incompetence and irresponsibility. People can no longer trust the government. The cause of the disaster must be thoroughly investigated, those responsible must be punished, and measures must be taken to prevent recurrence, but whose responsibility is this task? We need to sincerely apologize to the victims and make efforts to heal their wounds, but who should handle this?

The Itaewon disaster is not an accident that can always happen, but an incident that revealed serious problems in our social system. In order to solve these problems, we must all raise our voices so that the incompetent government can work properly. The public must not lose interest in this issue and constantly monitor the government to ensure that it functions properly for the country and its people.
