The Daejeon Agricultural Technology Center will support a joint pest and disease control project for 485 rice-cultivating farms, covering a total of 385 hectares, using agricultural drones as the rice growing season begins in earnest.
This project will involve a total budget of 220 million won, with 50% of the cost subsidized to reduce the financial burden on rice farmers and enhance the actual effectiveness of pest control.
A drone joint pest control demonstration will be held on Thursday, the 10th, at 10:30 AM, at 118-13 Gyochon-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, with about 50 representatives from drone companies and related organizations in attendance. A total of three sequential sprayings will be conducted across rice fields within Daejeon.
Pest control using drones offers excellent labor-saving benefits compared to traditional human-centered methods, significantly helping to alleviate issues like rural population aging and labor shortages.
Local farmers commented, "Thanks to drone pest control, the burden of farm work has been greatly reduced even in the hot weather, and we are very satisfied that elderly farmers can continue rice farming safely."
Lee Hyo-suk, Director of the Daejeon Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Through this project, we will strive to reduce labor in rural areas and strengthen regional agricultural competitiveness."
