Meeting of local festivals and traditional culture.. Expectations rise for spreading Hanbok culture in daily life
Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that it will operate Hanbok exhibitions, experiences, performances, and educational programs at local festival sites in Sangju and Gimcheon from the 23rd to the 25th. This event aims to expand opportunities for Hanbok experiences by linking with local festivals in celebration of the 2026 Hanbok Culture Week.
At the National Hanbok Advancement Center in Sangju, reconstructed works of excavated clothing from the Yi Myung-yeo tomb and award-winning pieces from the 2026 Gyeongsangbuk-do Creative Hackathon Competition will be exhibited. Children's Hanbok experience programs and a Hanbok liberal arts special lecture hosted by Chun Jin-ki and Kang Heon will also be held.
During the same period, programs will be operated in connection with the "2026 Nunu Nana Insect Festa" at the Sangju Sericulture and Insect Business Division and the "Sangju Slow Life Festival" around the Hamchang Silk Theme Park.
At the Gimcheon Gimbap Festival site, the National Hanbok Advancement Center will operate a promotional booth, traditional culture street performances, royal court and grand wedding attire experiences, and a Hanbok photo zone. Tourists will be able to enjoy tasting local gimbap while participating in Hanbok-wearing programs.
The province plans to continue discovering Hanbok contents linked with local cultural tourism resources and pursuing related projects in cooperation with the National Hanbok Advancement Center.
Park Chan-woo, Director of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau of Gyeongsangbuk-do, stated, "Hanbok is a precious asset containing our unique beauty and cultural identity. We hope that through this Hanbok Culture Week, more residents and tourists will naturally encounter Hanbok amidst the joy of local festivals and rediscover its charm."
