Lima, Peru – In a move to stimulate the economy and provide tax relief for individuals, the Peruvian tax authority, SUNAT, has announced new tax deductions for individuals earning over 7 UIT (tax units) annually.
Effective immediately, taxpayers can now deduct expenses on various items, including:
Dining out: Expenses incurred at restaurants, bars, and hotels.
Healthcare: Payments made to doctors and dentists.
Professional services: Fees paid to lawyers, accountants, and other professionals.
Rent: Rental payments for properties.
Household employee contributions to Social Security: Contributions made to ESSALUD for domestic workers.
To qualify for these deductions, taxpayers must meet specific requirements and retain proper documentation. For instance, expenses for dining out must be supported by receipts, while payments to healthcare providers must be made via electronic payment methods and the provider must be registered with SUNAT.
