Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is expanding Jeju tourism promotion and marketing to neighboring countries in Southeast Asia, such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam, and is seeking to develop new tourism markets including Mongolia, Australia, the Americas, and Europe.
In order to discover potential markets, we plan to strengthen the promotion of content about Jeju travel, including customized local medicine, wellness, luxury, and Korean Wave, and increase demand for visits to Jeju.
While promoting business discussions with airlines to revitalize direct flights and charter flights, we also identify market trends through networking with local travel agencies and related organizations to come up with cooperation plans.
In relation to this, Jeju Island will jointly participate with the Jeju Tourism Organization and the Korea Airports Corporation in the ‘K-Tourism Roadshow in Mongolia’ event hosted by the Ulaanbaatar branch of the Korea Tourism Organization on the 30th and 31st to promote local travel agencies.
Through this, we promote Jeju's visa-free system and charter flight incentives and promote Jeju tourism promotion and marketing to general potential consumers.
A total of eight charter flights were operated in Mongolia last year. Although it is difficult to secure aircraft globally, a total of 14 charter flights are scheduled to operate between Jeju and Mongolia this year.
Then, on September 11th and 12th, we will participate in the ‘Australia K-Tourism Roadshow’ held for the first time in Sydney and Brisbane in collaboration with the Sydney branch of the Korea Tourism Organization.
The event, held under the theme of ‘Hidden Gems, Jeju’, plans to introduce the hidden attractions of Jeju, Korea’s representative tourist destination, in conjunction with the 2024 Visit Korea Year.
Collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization's theme tourism team will also take place in September. We share Jeju villages that have caught the world’s attention.
We plan to publicize Jeju's villages, which have attracted the world's attention, through member travel agencies of Serendipians, a high-quality travel network focused on Europe, and Virtuoso, a high-quality travel network focused on the Americas.
The strategy is to develop products that increase the added value of Jeju's excellent tourism resources through the Sinheung-ri Camellia Village, which was selected as the World Tourism Organization's best tourist village, the Healing Forest experience, and the Haenyeo Museum.
Kim Hee-chan, head of the Jeju Island Tourism Exchange Bureau, said, “We will promote Jeju’s excellent culture and tourism resources to potential consumers around the world and actively encourage the development of high-quality tourism products that can further increase the value of Jeju.”
