Provincial Government Holds ‘Joint Progress Report Meeting for International Event-Linked Projects’ on the 2nd

Chungcheongnam-do Province held a preparation status review and discussed inter-institutional cooperation measures for the successful hosting of the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo and the Island Biennale, both scheduled to be held next year.

The province announced that it held the ‘2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo & Island Biennale International Event-Linked Projects Joint Progress Report Meeting’ at the Provincial Government Conference Room on the 2nd.

This report meeting was arranged to share the preparation status and linked project statuses of the two international events taking place next year, and to strengthen cooperation among institutions for successful event hosting.

Attended by about 20 people including Vice Governor for Political Affairs Koo Bon-young, the deputy mayors of Nonsan City and Boryeong City, provincial and municipal officials, and representatives from the organizing committees of both events, the meeting proceeded in the order of a promotional video screening, a report on event preparation status, a report on linked project progress, and discussions.

During the meeting, the current status of preparations for both international events and the progress of linked projects promoted by the province, Nonsan City, and Boryeong City were examined, alongside identifying necessary areas of cooperation during the preparation process.

The provincial-level initiatives consist of 73 projects across 47 departments within 18 functional bureaus and offices, spanning diverse fields such as tourism, industry, administration, environment, infrastructure development, and publicity.

Attendees shared overall preparations including major programs and projects for each event, venue construction, and visitor accommodation measures, while exchanging opinions on inter-field cooperation plans to enhance the completeness of the international events.

Furthermore, through the Island Biennale, attendees examined ways to promote linked projects that interpret the natural environment, history, ecology, and community values of the province’s islands through art, developing them into spaces where culture, arts, and tourism harmonize.

In addition, through the Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo, they agreed to publicize Chungnam's excellent agricultural technology and the competitiveness of the Chungnam strawberry industry to the world, and cooperate to connect it with local industrial and tourism resources to vitalize the local economy.

The events will be promoted centered around their respective organizing committees, while related departments and agencies will actively support areas requiring cooperation between the province and the cities, maintaining a close cooperative system.

Based on the discussions from this report meeting, the province plans to continuously monitor preparation statuses by field and strengthen cooperation among linked projects to support the successful hosting of the two international events.

Vice Governor Koo stated, "Although the two international events scheduled for next year differ in venues and themes, they share the common goal of promoting our province's precious assets to the world. We will do our utmost in event preparations so that the values of Chungnam’s agricultural industry, islands, and seas can be widely publicized at home and abroad, leading to regional vitalization."

Meanwhile, the 2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo will be held from February 26 to March 21 next year around the Nonsan Citizen Family Park area, and the 2027 1st Island Biennale will be held from April 3 to May 30 next year around Wonsando and Godaedo islands in Boryeong City.
