Sharing project implementation results and the 9th popular election's future industry strategy, and conducting on-site project inspections

Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Woo Sang-ho, hereinafter referred to as the "Province") held the "2026 Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Hydrogen Industry Performance Sharing Meeting" on Thursday, October 1, at the Gangwon Technopark Energy Center located in Samcheok City.

The meeting was attended by some 30 officials, including representatives from the Province, basic local governments such as Samcheok City, Gangwon Technopark, and related companies, who inspected the overall progress of the hydrogen industry in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and shared their implementation achievements.

Gangwon Technopark explained the progress of projects such as the "Liquefied Hydrogen Reliability Evaluation Center Construction Project," which is scheduled for completion at the end of this year, and Samcheok City introduced the rental factory for hydrogen anchor companies, which completed construction in May of this year and signed corporate tenancy contracts in June. In addition, the meeting included listening to the opinions of attending hydrogen company officials and discussing ways to foster cooperative development among local governments, research institutes, and companies.

The Province has secured 35 billion KRW in national funds this year in the hydrogen industry sector and is promoting 12 projects. In particular, the Liquefied Hydrogen Reliability Evaluation Center and the water electrolysis hydrogen production base are scheduled for completion at the end of the year.

Taking this performance sharing meeting as an opportunity, the Province plans to further strengthen cooperation networks—such as expanding business participation and technical cooperation opportunities for provincial companies and research institutions—and continuously lay the foundation for building a hydrogen industry ecosystem.

Park Yoo-sik, Director of the Future Industry Bureau, said, "I hope this meeting served as a meaningful venue for exchange and cooperation to lay the growth foundation for Gangwon's hydrogen industry." He added, "Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province will continue to foster an industrial environment where companies can grow and do its utmost to establish the hydrogen industry as a future growth engine."
