BUCHEON — On October 6, the Bucheon Cultural Center (President Kwon Soon-ho) hosted the "2026 Traditional Wedding Support Project for Hopes" at the Bucheon Hanok Experience Village. Approximately 100 guests, including family members, acquaintances, and local dignitaries, attended the ceremony to bless the couple's new beginning.
Hosted and organized by the Bucheon Cultural Center, the event was designed to gift a meaningful wedding ceremony to a disabled common-law couple who had previously been unable to hold a wedding due to various circumstances. The ceremony allowed the couple to reaffirm the bond they have built over a long time through traditional Korean wedding customs, marking a fresh start amidst the warm blessings of their family and neighbors.
Dressed in elegant traditional wedding attire, the couple entered the wedding venue to enthusiastic applause from the guests. The ceremony followed Korea's traditional etiquette, with attendees offering heartfelt cheers as the couple bowed and exchanged vows. For a couple that has stood by each other through thick and thin, the day served as a special moment to deeply reflect on their marital bond surrounded by widespread community support.
The event was made even more meaningful by the collaborative efforts of various local organizations and businesses. The Bucheon Branch of the Gyeonggi Association for Parents of People with Disabilities (President Huh Hye-young) contributed significantly, helping with everything from candidate recommendations to event preparation and execution.

In addition, local businesses generously offered their expertise and services: "Space Jak" sponsored the reception, "Pongdang Studio" provided photography services, "Unnie's Hanok" and "Unnie's Makeup" supported traditional clothing and makeup respectively, and "Kkot-tti Flower" beautifully decorated the venue with floral arrangements. This united effort from local institutions, organizations, and businesses enriched the meaning of the wedding.
In his congratulatory speech, Lee Jong-nam, Vice President of the Bucheon Cultural Center, stated, "Today's wedding is a special occasion to reaffirm the time you have spent together and your mutual trust amidst the blessings of everyone here. I hope today remains a warm memory for a long time, and that you continue to cherish and rely on each other to build a healthy and happy family."
The "2026 Traditional Wedding Support Project for Hopes" extends beyond a one-time wedding support event; it highlights how the local community came together to support a couple's new beginning. Within the framework of traditional Korean culture, families, neighbors, local organizations, and businesses shared their hearts to demonstrate the true meaning of a community-wide celebration.
The Bucheon Cultural Center announced plans to continue promoting various traditional culture projects, ensuring that traditional culture does not merely recreate the past, but instead connects people and shares warm values in the everyday lives of modern citizens.
