Trump to Pay for Campaign-Style Ads Out of Pocket Amid "Taxpayer Funds" Controversy

Facing controversy over the use of government funds for advertisements promoting his administration's achievements ahead of the midterm elections, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he will personally cover the costs.

On the 5th (local time), President Trump posted on Truth Social, "The radical left is angry that government funds were used to air positive ads promoting a great America. Moving forward, I will pay for the costs myself."

He indicated that he would fund the advertisements either through his own personal wealth or via MAGA Inc., a super PAC (political action committee) organized in his support.

However, Trump maintained that using tax dollars for government PR ads was justified, stating, "This is a fairly common practice."

According to CNN, the Trump administration has produced at least 13 video advertisements promoting the president and his policies as of last week.

Among them is an ad titled "King of the Jungle," which features footage of President Trump campaigning alongside images of a lion and an eagle.

Other advertisements highlight Trump's life journey, from his early days as a real estate developer in New York to becoming president.

Additionally, ads were produced emphasizing achievements such as the war in Iran and the operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

The commercials also incorporated scenes from UFC matches held at the White House, fireworks at Mount Rushmore, and military academy graduation footage.

Each ad concluded with the disclaimer: "Paid for by the United States government."

According to the political ad tracking firm AdImpact, the public funds poured into these advertisements thus far are estimated at least 10.1 million dollars (approximately 13.6 billion won).

Most of the ads were reportedly produced in-house by the White House video team, with President Trump himself involved in selecting the images and videos.

Government watchdog groups have argued that such ads may violate laws restricting the use of federal budgets for propaganda or partisan promotion.

However, it remains unclear whether external organizations have the legal standing to file a lawsuit in court.

While criticism surrounding the ads has been raised by members of both the Democratic and Republican parties, Congress has not taken separate action to halt the execution of the ads ahead of the midterms.
