Chungbuk Culture Day Celebrated with Provincial Cultural Centers in Okcheon

OKCHEON — The "2026 Chungbuk Culture Day Commemoration Ceremony and Living Culture Festival" took place on the 15th at the Okcheon Gwanseong Arts Center, drawing around 300 members from 11 city and county cultural centers across North Chungcheong Province. Hosted by the Chungbuk Federation of Cultural Centers, the event celebrated Culture Day while fostering regional exchange and unity.

The Chungbuk Living Culture Festival is an annual gathering rotating among the province's cities and counties, designed to highlight the value of local culture and encourage participation from all regional cultural centers.

This year's program featured both the official Culture Day ceremony and the living culture festival itself. The festival showcased consecutive club performances from all 11 participating city and county cultural centers, alongside diverse exhibitions including calligraphy and traditional Korean painting, as well as hands-on experience booths that enriched the event. Attendees also took the opportunity to expand inter-regional cultural exchange and networking.

The gathering held deep significance as a collaboration of grassroots cultural centers that have continuously promoted arts and heritage within their local communities. Organizers expect the event to broaden consensus on Chungbuk's cultural identity while respecting distinct regional characteristics, ultimately strengthening communication and cooperation among the cultural centers.

"I hope this meaningful gathering, where cultural centers from across the province come together, serves as a wonderful occasion to share our diverse local cultures and harmonize with one another," said Lee Jae-han, Special Advisor for Political Affairs for the Province. "We will continue to work hand-in-hand with our local cultural centers to ensure that all provincial residents can enjoy culture easily in their everyday lives."
