- Chungcheongnam-do to host the '2026 Chungnam Museum of Art International Forum' at the Chungnam Provincial Library on the 21st

Chungcheongnam-do announced on the 15th that it will hold the "2026 Chungnam Museum of Art International Forum" at 1:30 PM on the 21st in the auditorium of the Cultural Education Building at the Chungnam Provincial Library.

Held under the theme "Conversational Museum: Artwork, Exhibition, Learning, Community," this forum is organized to share the operational experiences of regional art scenes and domestic and international art museums, and to explore the future operational direction of the Chungnam Museum of Art, which is scheduled to open in the latter half of next year.

Part 1, titled "Chungnam's Regional Art Ecosystem and the Future of Public Art Museums," will examine cases of art space operations and creative activities rooted in the local community.

Lee Kyung-mi, an independent curator and CEO of Space 2045, will present on "Contemporary Art Spaces within Regional Contexts." Lee Hwa-young, a Node Tree artist, will present "A Score for a Corroding Village: When Everyday Life Becomes the Form of Art," while Choi Sun-young, a cultural arts planner, will speak on "The Emergence of Individuality and the Presentness of Art."

Part 2, titled "Case Studies on Regional Public Art Museum Operations," will introduce regional art research, collection acquisition cases, and educational/participatory programs from art institutions in South Korea, France, and the United Kingdom.

Additionally, Lee Jin-chul, Head of the Curatorial and Exhibition Division at the Suwon Museum of Art, will present on "Regional Art Research and the Role of the Museum." Sarah Klein, Head of International Exhibitions and Residencies at FRAC Grand Large—Hauts-de-France, France, will speak on "FRAC in Hauts-de-France: Building Collections, Connecting Relations."

Sarah Rows, Director of Communities, Practice, and Participation at Modern Art Oxford, UK, will participate via video conference to present "An Open Museum for All: Learning and Participation at Modern Art Oxford."

Following the presentations, a panel discussion and audience Q&A session will take place to discuss cooperation strategies between regional art scenes and public art museums, as well as the role of museums in local communities.

The province plans to utilize the opinions gathered from this forum to shape the preparation and future operational direction of the Chungnam Museum of Art, while expanding exchanges between local artists and domestic and international art institutions.

The Chungnam Museum of Art is currently under construction near the Chungnam Provincial Library with the goal of opening in the latter half of next year. Attendees of the forum will be able to view the exterior of the museum construction site before and after the event.

The forum is open to anyone interested in art and regional culture, and participation is free of charge.
