Held on October 5 at the Gaedo Seom-Seom Camping Ground Lawn Square… A Rich Culture & Arts Festival Harmonizing Performances and Exhibitions

A culture and arts festival where visitors can enjoy the unique ambiance and local art of the island will unfold in Gaedo, a sub-venue of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Fair.

The 2026 Yeosu World Island Fair Organizing Committee announced that it will host the "Seom-Seom Culture & Arts Festival" at 1 PM on October 5 at the lawn square of the Gaedo Seom-Seom Camping Ground.

Commemorating the 2026 Yeosu World Island Fair, the Yeosu branch of the Korea Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations (Yeosu Yechong) will present a variety of cultural arts to residents and tourists visiting Gaedo.

Starting with the street parade ("Gilnori") by Yeosu Samdong Maegu, a rich array of performances will follow, including Jeollanam-do Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 7 "Hyeoncheon Sodongpae Nori," dancesport, mixed vocal performances, saxophone recitals, traditional Korean music (Gugak) songs, acoustic guitar performances, trot, Namdo folk songs, and Samulnori. In particular, programs spanning diverse genres will provide abundant visual and auditory spectacles for visitors, featuring saxophone renditions of "Wonderful Tonight" and "Every breath you take," a mixed vocal stage featuring "Missing Geumgangsan Mountain," "Thank You," and the "Love Song" from the opera Chunhyangga, as well as Gugak songs and Namdo folk songs. Alongside these, local artists and performance teams active in Yeosu, such as the Yeosu Bagel Sisters and Yeosu Three Queens, will take the stage to showcase the charm of local culture and arts.

In addition to the performances, exhibition programs have been prepared. An exhibition of poetry-paintings, fine art, and photography for the "Seom-Seom Culture & Arts Festival" will be held at the Island and Fishing Village Culture Center, allowing visitors to encounter Gaedo's stunning scenery and the cultural value of the island through works of art.

Song Ho-jong, president of the Yeosu branch of the Korea Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations, stated, "Gaedo is a special space where the history and beautiful scenery of the island harmonize. We hope this culture and arts festival becomes a precious time for residents, tourists, and artists visiting Gaedo to come together, experience, and enjoy the present of the island."

The "Seom-Seom Culture & Arts Festival" takes place at 1 PM on October 5, 2026, at the Gaedo Seom-Seom Camping Ground lawn square, and is open for local residents and tourists alike to enjoy.

Meanwhile, the 2026 Yeosu World Island Fair is scheduled to run from September 5 to November 4 at Dolsan Jinmo District, Yeosu Expo Venue, Gaedo, and Geumodo, featuring various exhibitions, experiential activities, and cultural programs themed around the value and future of islands.
