Autumn forest cultural event harmonizing books, music, and art

The Gangwon State Forest Research Institute (Director Park Myung-hee) will host the "LOVE & ART Autumn Festival" on Saturday, October 24, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the Gangwon State Botanic Garden. Under the theme "Encountering Art in the Forest with Family," this cultural event is designed for visitors to enjoy books, music, and diverse hands-on activities together in an autumn forest.

On the day of the event, various programs connecting nature with culture and arts will be operated throughout the botanic garden, including:

-Forest Music Concert
-Forest Library
-Forest Playground
-Forest Photo Exhibition

Seasonal Autumn Chrysanthemum Exhibition
The programs have been curated so that visitors can do more than just appreciate the autumn scenery of the botanic garden; they can stay in the forest and enjoy music, reading, and hands-on experiences all at once.

Notably, the "Forest Music Concert" will take place starting at 2:00 PM at the lawn area, featuring busking performances by guitarist Kim Jin-san, musical actor Jin Joo-young, and pianist Won Yo-han, who will bring out the charm of the autumn forest through music. Alongside the performances, a mini talk session themed around the botanic garden's autumn and plants will be held, offering a special time where nature and music harmonize.

In the Metasequoia area, the "Forest Library" will be set up for visitors to leisurely enjoy books in nature. "Book-picnic" sets—consisting of a picnic mat, mini colored pencils, and modern forest literature books—will be available for rent, allowing families to linger in the autumn forest and enjoy reading together.

A variety of entertaining attractions will also be provided for families to build lasting autumn memories. Under the theme of the "Forest Playground," experiential activities will be operated, such as chrysanthemum tea tastings and making mini photo frames or chrysanthemum-embroidered handkerchiefs. Additionally, visitors can explore the "Forest Photo Exhibition" featuring rare endemic and native plants of the botanic garden, as well as a special exhibition titled "Lost Records of Our Plants" at the Forest Museum, which introduces native plants of Korea and their growth habitats during the Japanese colonial period. Furthermore, visitors can fully savor the deep ambiance of the advancing autumn alongside 13,000 chrysanthemums blooming throughout the botanic garden.

Park Myung-hee, Director of the Gangwon State Forest Research Institute, stated, "We hope visitors will experience the beauty of nature by enjoying books, music, and various experiences with their families in the botanic garden colored by autumn hues." She added, "We will continue to prepare diverse programs so that the State Botanic Garden transcends a space just for viewing nature, becoming a place where local residents can enjoy forest culture together."
