On the fifth day of its offensive against Iran, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that a massive fleet of fighter jets launched concentrated strikes on Iranian military headquarters and key installations on the 4th (local time).
During a battlefield briefing, the IDF stated, "The Air Force conducted intensive airstrikes on a large Iranian military complex in eastern Tehran," adding that "more than 100 fighter jets were deployed, dropping over 250 munitions on the facility."
The IDF claimed the targeted complex housed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the elite Quds Force, the Ministry of Intelligence, the Basij militia, cyber units, and divisions responsible for suppressing anti-government protests.
Military authorities further explained, "This strike was executed while officials of the Iranian terror regime—responsible for orchestrating terror plots against Israel and regional neighbors, as well as oppressing their own citizens—were active on-site."
Colonel 'Aleph', commander of Israel's Ramat David Airbase, estimated that thousands of Iranian military personnel were likely killed in the operation. In a video released by the IDF, the commander, who participated in the mission, stated, "We have eliminated thousands of Iranian troops over the past two days."
He added, "Seconds before dropping the bombs, I looked to my left and right to see dozens of our jets flying without any resistance, deploying hundreds of precision-guided munitions."
