Trump Floods Truth Social with AI Memes Over Holiday Weekend: Self-Praise, Territorial Claims, and 'New America' Redesigns

WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump spent the recent Labor Day holiday weekend maintaining a relentless presence on his social media platform, Truth Social, flooding his feed with dozens of artificial intelligence-generated memes, aggressive territorial claims, and sharp jabs at political rivals and international leaders.

On Sunday alone, over 60 posts appeared on Trump’s account, showcasing a surreal blend of political self-aggrandizement and provocative digital art. Among the most notable posts was a series of AI-generated maps renaming New Mexico to "New America," featuring a bold red "X" over the original state name. This symbolic renaming follows a broader pattern of Trump asserting ownership or proposing geographical name changes, drawing swift condemnation and backlash from the Democratic opposition.

Trump’s digital campaign expanded far beyond domestic borders. Additional maps depicted Canada and Greenland entirely under U.S. territory, alongside an image rebranding Lake Ontario as "America Lake" amid ongoing trade tensions with Canada. Another cartoon meme showed Trump defeating Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in an ice hockey match, casually telling a downed Carney to "get up, governor."

The Middle East was also a prominent target. One altered map redesigned the geography of Iran into the profile of Trump’s face, while another illustration showed him striking Iran with a U.S. flag-themed hammer. Trump also posted surreal imagery of himself surrounded by combat robots accompanied by the text, "Give them nightmares," and shared a doctored image of himself arm-wrestling WWE star Hulk Hogan, easily overpowering the wrestling icon.

Historical and celestial ambitions were woven into the feed as well. Trump recirculated images claiming to be "The Greatest" U.S. president in history, including a deep-fake style photo of himself riding horseback alongside America's first president, George Washington, and another inviting Washington into the Oval Office. He further claimed the moon for the United States, posting an image of the lunar surface emblazoned with an American flag as U.S.-China space competition intensifies.

Controversy also surrounded a conceptual Space Force uniform shared by the president, which critics quickly compared to Nazi-era attire. Pointing out that Trump drew inspiration from the 1997 satirical sci-fi film Starship Troopers, detractors mocked the design, asking whether the U.S. military was forming a "space Nazi" corps rather than a national defense branch. Additionally, Trump posted a manipulated image of prominent Hollywood actor and vocal critic Robert De Niro holding a shirt reading "Trump is my president," mocking him with the caption, "Even a dope like this is starting to get it."

Aside from his digital output, Trump spent the holiday weekend at his New Jersey golf club. Upon his arrival on Thursday, media outlets and social media users heavily buzzed over a physical change: the president stepped off Air Force Power with his signature blonde hair noticeably dyed a dark brown, sparking a wave of viral reactions across online platforms.
