First Step for Smart Agriculture Talent: The 17th Daejeon Green Agriculture College Entrance Ceremony

The Daejeon Agricultural Technology Center successfully held the entrance ceremony for the 17th Daejeon Green Agriculture College in 2025 on April 1st. This college is a specialized agricultural training program aimed at fostering professional farmers who will lead the future of Daejeon agriculture.
The entrance ceremony was attended by approximately 100 guests and officials, including Lee Taek-gu, Deputy Mayor for Political, Economic, and Science Affairs of Daejeon Metropolitan City, Kim Ho-jung, President of the Daejeon Green Agriculture College Alumni Association, Kim Min-soon, President of the Daejeon Metropolitan City Federation of Korea Rural Guidance Leaders Association, and Jung Jae-kyun, President of the Daejeon Metropolitan City Federation of Korea Young Farmers Association, who celebrated the new beginning.
This year, the Daejeon Green Agriculture College selected a total of 75 new students: 37 in the Rural Life Class and 38 in the Smart Agriculture Class. The education program will run weekly from April to October, for a total of 24 sessions. The curriculum will involve inviting expert lecturers in various fields and will be conducted through a combination of theoretical agricultural technology and field training.
Since its establishment in 2009, the Daejeon Green Agriculture College has produced 1,321 graduates to date. These graduates are playing a crucial role in enhancing the competitiveness of local agriculture amidst the rapidly changing agricultural environment.
In his congratulatory remarks, Deputy Mayor Lee Taek-gu stated, "As the science capital of Korea, Daejeon is continuously expanding its smart agriculture foundation by incorporating advanced technologies such as AI and big data." He further encouraged the new students, saying, "I hope all of you will grow into competent professional farmers who will lead the future of Daejeon agriculture."
