Cheonan City announced on the 31st that it will implement 'Happiness Well-being 365' to proactively identify and protect socially isolated households.
This project is being promoted to supplement the limitations of the welfare system that relies on individual applications and to build a close-knit social safety net that encompasses those in blind spots of management.
Happiness Support Teams, care workers, senior welfare center volunteers, and employee volunteers from private companies and public institutions will check on the well-being of middle-aged individuals (ages 50-60) at risk of solitary death and conduct weekly visits to monitor their daily lives.
In addition, the eligibility for the Senior Customized Care Service will be expanded from the existing basic medical care recipients aged 75 or older to those aged 65-99. Care workers will visit and provide customized management for high-risk groups of solitary death by age and risk level through counseling.
The city will expand and implement the 'Well-being Care Service' utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) for high-risk groups of solitary death who refuse well-being checks.
In response to recent deaths of high-risk individuals of solitary death who were not subject to the social protection system due to refusal of welfare service applications, the city will expand well-being checks from once a week to three times a week to overcome the limitations of the welfare system.
Yoon Eun-mi, Director of Welfare Policy Bureau, stated, "With the increase in socially isolated households, we aim to build a close-knit welfare system by utilizing human resource networks within the local community." She added, "We plan to continue to promote various projects to overcome and supplement the limitations where direct management is not possible in cases of individual refusal."
