Daejeon City is hosting the ‘Happy Spring Sharing Market for Love's Recycling’ to reflect on the value of resources and the spirit of sharing with citizens as the warm spring arrives.
This sharing market is organized by the Daejeon Metropolitan City Public Service Volunteer Association (Chairman Choi In-deok) and will be held for two days, from Tuesday, April 1st to Wednesday, April 2nd, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the first-floor lobby of Daejeon City Hall.
At the market, items collected from the City Hall and its affiliated public corporations and institutions, as well as clothing, household goods, books, and toys donated by citizens, will be sold at affordable prices. Citizen participation programs, such as a loofah sponge making experience, will also be held to encourage visitor interest and participation.
The proceeds from the sales will be used for donation activities for neighbors in need, such as scholarship grants and support for food bank operations, which is expected to lead citizens' participation to even more meaningful sharing.
Moon Chang-yong, Director of the Daejeon Metropolitan City Environment Bureau, said, "This event goes beyond simply selling goods and will serve as an opportunity to spread a culture of resource conservation and sharing. We hope that many citizens will participate together to appreciate the importance of resource recycling and have a meaningful time practicing warm sharing."
Meanwhile, the Daejeon Metropolitan City Public Service Volunteer Association has continued to practice various acts of neighborly love through the Happy Store and sharing markets since 2005, including supporting 412 low-income individuals with a total of 111.05 million KRW in scholarships, operating food banks 112 times with a total support of 109.8 million KRW, and visiting 89 neighbors in need with a total of 85 million KRW in donations.
