ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – The iconic Palma Street in Asunción is poised to once again become a vibrant hub of culture and commerce as the 'Palmea' Feria prepares for its grand reopening on Saturday, April 26th. This marks the second consecutive and second event of the year, following the Easter break, promising an even richer experience of art, trade, and community engagement.

Marcela Bacigalupo, the Director of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Asunción, officially announced the event in an interview with Radio 650 AM. "The Palmea Feria will begin on April 26th," she stated. "We are expanding the participation of various regional governments and departments to showcase distinctive handicrafts and foods from different regions, not only for the citizens of Asunción but for everyone, offering diverse themed Saturdays until the end of the year."

Director Bacigalupo emphasized the remarkable success of the first feria in 2024, highlighting its contribution to local community empowerment, economic impact, and significant participant numbers.

Indeed, the 2024 Palmea Feria saw the participation of 485 food stalls, 380 artisans, and 1,100 artists, generating an economic impact of over 2.18 billion guaraníes. This significantly contributed to revitalizing the stagnant downtown commercial district and attracting new investments.

This second feria is also expected to draw significant public participation by offering a wide array of attractions and entertainment. In particular, the themed Saturday events will provide visitors to Palma Street with unique experiences. The Palmea Feria is anticipated to solidify its position as an attractive cultural event for both locals and tourists.
