Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Tae-heum expressed his strong support for Chungnam Asan FC's promotion to the first division of professional football K League, the team that was a sensation in the K League 2 last year, and pledged active assistance.
Governor Kim, the honorary club president of Chungnam Asan FC, attended the home opener of the 'Hana Bank 2025 K League 2' against Seongnam FC held at the Asan Yishunsin Stadium on the 30th.
At the event, Governor Kim took commemorative photos with the players, participated in the ceremonial first kick, and watched the game with approximately 8,000 spectators, cheering for Chungnam Asan FC's victory and promotion to K League 1.
After greeting both teams and the football fans who visited the stadium, Governor Kim stated, "This time, the Yishunsin Stadium has been completely renovated with 'hybrid turf' of European league standards, and variable seats have also been installed to bring fans and players closer. Chungnam will continue to actively support the development of football and Chungnam Asan FC's growth into a prestigious club."
Governor Kim continued, "Chungnam Asan FC achieved a wonderful result by finishing as the runner-up in the league last year. Although they are facing some difficulties in the early part of the season, I believe in Chungnam Asan FC's potential, and I hope this home game will be the start of a winning streak."
Chungnam Asan FC finished as the runner-up in the league last year and advanced to the promotion-relegation playoffs, but narrowly missed out on a K League 1 promotion ticket after losing to Daegu FC.
The province supports Chungnam Asan FC with 2 billion won from 2020 to 2023, and will provide 3 billion won annually for five years from last year to 2028 to support their promotion.
Last year, an additional 3 billion won was invested from provincial and Asan city funds to replace the main stadium of Yishunsin Stadium with hybrid natural turf, creating the best possible playing environment.
Based on the support from the province and Asan City, the club is focusing on enhancing its value by promoting various strategies such as △youth player development △acquisition of excellent players △strengthening team power △activating an advanced spectator culture.
