Daejeon City Launches Film Industry Promotion Committee to Foster Growth

Daejeon, South Korea – Daejeon City has taken a significant step towards becoming a leading hub for the film industry. On [Date], the city officially launched the Daejeon Film Industry Promotion Committee, appointing 18 experts from various fields, including film professionals, industry representatives, and academics.
The inaugural meeting of the committee involved the presentation of appointment certificates, the election of officers, a discussion of operational directions, and a briefing on the 2025 business plan.
The newly formed committee is an upgrade of the previous Daejeon Film Commission, which was operated by the Daejeon Information Culture Industry Promotion Agency. Daejeon City aims to leverage this committee to strengthen policy development, review, and evaluation for the growth of the local film industry from this year onward. Additionally, the city plans to foster a robust regional film ecosystem.
The committee will primarily focus on the following key areas:
Policy Development and Project Initiation: Formulating innovative policies and identifying new projects for the film industry.
Building a Regional Film Ecosystem and Talent Development: Establishing a supportive environment for the film industry and nurturing skilled professionals.
Promoting Regional Film Policies: Enhancing the overall film policy landscape in Daejeon.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo expressed his optimism, stating, "With the launch of this committee, Daejeon has laid the foundation to become a global hub for the film industry. I urge all members to work together to foster the growth of the film industry, centered around the upcoming integrated special effects content cluster, and to create an environment where diverse production support experts can settle in Daejeon."
