KISBER, Hungary – A significant step in the burgeoning economic partnership between China and Hungary was marked on Monday with the official launch of ZettaNet, a state-of-the-art optical cable manufacturing facility in Kisber. Backed by Chinese telecommunications giant FiberHome, this investment is poised to bolster Hungary's industrial prowess and deepen bilateral economic relations.
The inauguration of ZettaNet represents FiberHome's first industrial investment and construction endeavor in Europe. "This newly established ZettaNet cable manufacturing base is our first industrial entity invested in and constructed in Europe," stated Zeng Jun, Chairman of the Board of FiberHome. The Hungarian facility is strategically designed to capitalize on FiberHome's extensive expertise in the fiber optic cable sector, aiming to establish a premier optical communication manufacturing hub catering to the European market. The site will integrate advanced production lines, cutting-edge technological research and development, and streamlined logistics delivery.
Judit Bertalan Czunyine, State Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development, highlighted the project's profound positive impact on the local economy. "The arrival of high-tech investments such as ZettaNet significantly enhances our economic resilience, competitiveness, and diversification. This project marks another important milestone in this process," she emphasized. The facility is expected to create numerous high-skilled jobs and stimulate local economic growth.
Levente Magyar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, underscored the importance of assessing the project's broader impact on the local community, emphasizing the need for sustainable growth and development. He also noted Hungary's strategic geographic location, which positions it as an attractive destination for Chinese investors, and stressed the importance of competitive wages to attract and retain a skilled workforce.
Chinese Ambassador to Hungary, Gong Tao, lauded the project's rapid completion, noting that it was brought to operational status in less than a year. "This achievement not only demonstrates the efficiency and strength of Chinese companies but also reflects the deep mutual trust, cooperation, and shared vision between China and Hungary," said Ambassador Gong. He further emphasized that the project is a testament to the strong and growing economic ties between the two nations, particularly in the high-tech manufacturing sector.
FiberHome, a leading global provider of information and communication network products and solutions, has been expanding its international footprint, and this investment in Hungary is a key component of its European strategy. The ZettaNet facility will produce a wide range of optical cables, crucial for supporting the increasing demand for high-speed internet and advanced telecommunications infrastructure across Europe.
This investment comes at a time when Hungary is actively seeking to attract foreign direct investment, particularly in high-tech industries, to drive economic growth and innovation. The establishment of ZettaNet is a significant step in achieving these goals and further solidifies Hungary's position as a key player in the European manufacturing landscape.
