The "2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo," the largest comprehensive cultural industry expo in Korea, has embarked on its five-day journey.

Cheonan City, the Independence Hall of Korea, and the Cheonan Cultural Foundation held an opening ceremony on the 4th at the Independence Hall to announce the start of the "2025 Cheonan K-Culture Expo with MyK FESTA."

This year, marking its third iteration, the K-Culture Expo illuminates various Hallyu cultural contents, from K-pop to Korean food, cosmetics, and games, under the theme of 'Global K-Culture, Blossoming in the World.'

The opening ceremony, signaling the start of the K-Culture Expo, took place at 7 PM on the main stage of the Grand Plaza of the Korean People at the Independence Hall. The ceremony was attended by approximately 10,000 people, including Cheonan City Acting Mayor Kim Seok-pil (Deputy Mayor), Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yong Ho-seong, Chungcheongnam-do Governor Kim Tae-heum, Independence Hall Director Kim Hyeong-seok, Cheonan Cultural Foundation CEO Ahn Dong-soon, and citizens.

The opening ceremony featured congratulatory performances by popular singers such as Sung Si-kyung, Lee Mu-jin, H1-KEY, and Beat Fellaz House, as well as an opening ceremony. The themed performance involved singer Shin Seung-tae, gugak artist Park Jeong-su, and the Saengdonggam Crew, who expressed the tradition and future direction of Hallyu through gugak and dance.

Following this, a drone light show was presented to celebrate the beginning of the K-Culture Expo. Utilizing 1,000 drones, the drone light show expressed the symbolism and message contained within the K-Culture Expo exhibition halls in an omnibus format across the night sky of the Independence Hall.

This year, the K-Culture Expo takes a significant leap forward as an experience-oriented expo by expanding Hallyu cultural industry content and incorporating advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Exhibition content has been expanded from 5 to 7 sectors (themed exhibitions and food, webtoon, beauty, Hangeul, video content, and game industry exhibition halls), showcasing experiential content that visitors can see and feel directly.

Each exhibition hall has been designed to provide visitors with new experiences by integrating cutting-edge technologies such as immersive media, artificial intelligence (AI), interactive displays, and virtual/augmented reality with Hallyu culture.

The performance program consists of the 'K-Hanbok Fashion Show' to highlight the excellence of Hanbok, the 'K-OST Concert' to relive the emotions of drama OSTs, the 'K-Retro Performance' for the middle-aged, the 'C'est Si Bon Concert' to evoke nostalgia, SBS Radio's open broadcast 'Wendy's Youngstreet,' and the 'Teenieping Musical' for children.

In addition, Welcome, Challenge, K-Experience, Kids, Food, and K-Univ Zones have been created, along with fringe performances by young artists, a Memorial Day tribute concert, a veterans' culture festival, a K-Talk Show, and K-pop cover dance performances.

The city has arranged free shuttle and circulating buses for the convenience of visitors, along with a 'Food Zone' featuring 20 local restaurants and food trucks. Nearby, dining areas such as truss zones, parasol zones, and camping chair zones have been prepared, accommodating up to 1,600 people simultaneously.

Kim Tae-heum, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do, stated, "The K-Culture Expo is solidifying its status and position as the best comprehensive cultural event in the Republic of Korea, introducing the charm of various contents such as Korean culture, art, and technology." He added, "I look forward to the future of the continuously developing K-Culture Expo."

Acting Mayor Kim Seok-pil said, "Based on the rich cultural capabilities of the region, we will move forward as a cultural industry city that communicates with the world through the K-Culture Expo." He emphasized, "We will do our best to further strengthen our cultural infrastructure and create a creative cultural ecosystem for Cheonan to leap forward as a hub of K-Culture."
