Cheonan City conducted wildfire prevention education on March 24th targeting the leaders of its 31 townships and neighborhoods to proactively prevent large-scale forest fires.
The city collaborated with the Korea Forest Fire Prevention Technology Association to deliver the training. The education covered various aspects of wildfires, including their characteristics, effective prevention strategies, and essential firefighting procedures. The program also aimed to enhance the expertise of the local leaders, enabling them to establish efficient wildfire response systems within their respective communities in the event of an outbreak.
In preparation for the peak wildfire season around the traditional Korean holidays of Hansik and Cheongmyeong, Cheonan City has entered a state of high alert. The city has designated a concentrated wildfire response period and is strategically deploying civil servants, specialized wildfire suppression teams, and wildfire surveillance personnel in vulnerable areas across the region.
Furthermore, Cheonan City is actively raising public awareness and deterring potential arsonists by producing and distributing banners and large posters in wildfire-prone areas, clearly stating the severe penalties for causing forest fires.
Kim Chang-young, head of the Forest Recreation Division, stated, "March and April are high-risk months for large-scale wildfires. We will ensure thorough prevention measures are in place so that Cheonan can remain free of wildfires for the rest of this period."
