National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik, who was on an official visit to Brazil to attend the 10th G20 National Assembly Speakers' Meeting, held a dinner meeting with Brazilian compatriots and representatives of ground affairs at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Sao Paulo at 6 p.m. on Saturday the 9th. This event was hosted by Deputy Consul General Koo Bon-il and became a meaningful meeting place between the National Assembly Speaker and fellow Brazilians.
The meeting began with Ms. Shin Kyeong-hye (wife of National Assembly Speaker Woo) delivering a bouquet of flowers to Senior Citizens Association President Cho Bok-ja. This was followed by an introduction to the National Assembly by Consul General Chae Jin-won and a welcoming speech by Kim Beom-jin of the Korean Association, and National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik gave an encouraging speech, expressing gratitude to the compatriots for their hard work.
Chairman Woo said, “Thanks to the efforts of our Brazilian compatriots, Sao Paulo’s Bonghejiro is establishing itself as the center of the Korean Wave,” and promised, “We will support the development of the Bonghejjiro region and the spread of the Korean Wave at the government and National Assembly levels.”
Afterwards, the dinner began with a toast from Seo Joo-il, president of the Brazil Council for Democracy. At the meeting, speakers including Park Dae-geun (Chairman of the Korean Federation of Korea Scholarship Association), Jo Bok-ja (Chairman of the Senior Citizens' Association), Yoo Geon-yeong (President of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Brazil), Choi Yong-jun (Chairman of the Central and South American Korean Chamber of Commerce), and Lee Hyeong-sun (Chairman of the Brazilian branch of the Korean Veterans Association) spoke and discussed pending issues in the Korean society. discussed. Prior to the meeting, National Assembly Speaker Woo and his party visited Bonghejiro area, Sao Paulo's Korean town.
