Hongseong, South Korea - The Chungnam Fire Headquarters is significantly upgrading its emergency response capabilities with a substantial investment of 10.9 billion KRW this year. This represents a 30.8% increase in budget compared to the 8.4 billion KRW allocated in the previous year, signaling a strong commitment to public safety. The funds will be directed towards acquiring cutting-edge specialized vehicles and replacing aging units within the fire department's fleet.

A key addition to the Chungnam fire service will be the deployment of an unmanned demolition and extinguishing vehicle. Secured through a national subsidy, this specialized truck is particularly effective in tackling challenging blazes such as electric vehicle fires and those occurring in sandwich panel factories. This new acquisition will bring the total number of such vehicles in the province to three, enhancing the ability to handle these increasingly common and hazardous situations.

Recognizing the persistent issue of flooding in the lower reaches of the Geum River, the Fire Headquarters is investing in a custom-built drainage support vehicle. Equipped with a powerful pumping system capable of discharging over 15 tons of water per minute, this vehicle will be strategically positioned to mitigate flood damage in vulnerable areas.

Addressing the challenges of navigating densely populated urban environments, three 18-meter small ladder trucks will be deployed to the fire stations in Seocheon, Yesan, and Taean. These compact units offer greater maneuverability in narrow streets and areas with heavy parking, improving access for firefighting and rescue operations in commercial and multi-unit residential zones.

To enhance response capabilities in the rapidly developing Naepo region, which has seen a surge in high-rise apartment buildings, a 70-meter aerial ladder truck (articulated boom lift) will be stationed at the Hongseong Fire Station. This addition complements existing 70-meter units in Asan and Seosan, significantly boosting the ability to combat high-altitude fires and conduct crucial rescues.

Furthermore, the Chungnam Fire Headquarters is committed to maintaining a modern and reliable fleet. Approximately 20 primary vehicles, including small pump trucks and water tank trucks that have reached the end of their operational lifespan, will be replaced. This initiative will ensure the continuation of the province's impressive record of maintaining a 0% aging rate for its fire vehicles since 2017.

Seong Ho-seon, Chief of the Chungnam Fire Headquarters, emphasized the strategic approach behind these investments, stating, "We will continue to reinforce customized special vehicles according to disaster types and accident occurrence frequencies, and promptly replace outdated equipment to enhance the safety of field activities." He further affirmed the department's unwavering dedication to the citizens, promising to "do our best in firefighting activities, always prioritizing the safety of the citizens anywhere, anytime." This significant upgrade to Chungnam's fire fighting arsenal promises to bolster the region's resilience and ensure a more effective response to a wide range of emergencies.
