Taean, South Korea – The organizing committee for the highly anticipated 2026 Taean International Horticulture & Healing Expo convened a comprehensive progress report meeting on April 23rd at the Korea Flower Park in Taean. This strategic session aimed to fortify the collaborative framework among key stakeholders, including the Chungcheongnam-do Province, Taean County, and the Expo's organizing committee itself. The meeting facilitated a thorough review of the preparations across various sectors to ensure a seamless execution of the upcoming international event.

The report meeting witnessed the participation of approximately 40 key figures, including Chungcheongnam-do Governor Kim Tae-heum, Taean County Mayor Ga Se-ro, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee Oh Jin-gi, alongside directors and heads of departments from the provincial government, senior officials from Taean County, and members of the organizing committee. The agenda encompassed a viewing of promotional materials, comprehensive progress reports from the organizing committee and Taean County, sectoral progress updates from various provincial departments, an interactive discussion session, and a site visit to the expo grounds.

During the meeting, each participating entity presented their respective progress, highlighting key achievements and outlining future plans. Significant discussions revolved around crucial tasks, collaborative strategies, and approaches to guarantee the successful staging of the international expo. The organizing committee affirmed its commitment to leverage the insights gained from the report meeting to refine its operational responses and enhance the detailed execution plans across all relevant domains.

Following the formal proceedings, Governor Kim and Mayor Ga jointly inspected the primary zones of the expo site. Their on-site assessment included a detailed examination of essential infrastructure, visitor amenities, and exhibition halls. They actively engaged with relevant personnel, seeking updates on the progress of key improvements and ongoing developments.

Governor Kim Tae-heum emphasized the groundbreaking nature of the event, stating, "This international expo, the first of its kind to integrate 'horticulture' and 'healing,' marks a significant step in charting a new course for Korea's horticulture industry." He further articulated a vision for Taean to become synonymous with horticulture on a global scale, drawing parallels with renowned regional specialties like Geumsan ginseng and Nonsan strawberries.

Governor Kim also underscored the importance of maximizing the expo's impact on the local economy and ensuring its long-term sustainability. "To achieve genuine success, this expo must amplify its ripple effects on the regional economy and foster its continuity," he asserted. "By linking industry and tourism, we must create a successful model that invigorates horticulture farmers and the broader horticulture industry, while simultaneously driving the growth and development of the local economy."

Drawing inspiration from international successes, Governor Kim referenced the Netherlands' renowned Keukenhof flower exhibition. "Currently, the Netherlands is hosting the world's largest flower festival, the Keukenhof. The Keukenhof Gardens attract over a million visitors annually, serving as a central pillar of the regional economy and a vast business platform for the Dutch floriculture industry," he noted. "With the remaining year, we must concentrate our capabilities to transform our expo into a globally recognized and successful event representing Korea."

The 2026 Taean International Horticulture & Healing Expo, co-hosted by Chungcheongnam-do Province and Taean County, is scheduled to take place from April 25th to May 24th, 2026. Under the theme "A Healthy Future Found in Nature: Horticulture & Healing," the organizers anticipate attracting 1.82 million visitors from 40 countries, promising a significant boost to the region and a showcase of the therapeutic power of horticulture on an international stage.
