Daejeon Metropolitan City is set to accelerate the global expansion of local innovative companies at CES 2026 (Consumer Electronics Show), the world's largest IT and consumer electronics exhibition, shifting its support focus from "exhibition-centered" to "result-oriented."
Coinciding with the opening of CES 2026, the city held an opening ceremony for the Daejeon Pavilion in Las Vegas at 10:30 AM (local time) on the 6th, officially showcasing the innovative technologies of local startups to the global market.
The opening ceremony was attended by Choi Seong-ah, Vice Mayor for Political, Economic, and Scientific Affairs of Daejeon; Victor Hoskins, President of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (USA); Kim Woo-yeon, President of the Daejeon Technopark; and Park Dae-hee, President of the Daejeon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, along with representatives from participating companies and relevant organizations.
Under the slogan "Innovators Show Up," CES 2026 is focusing on the role of innovators who drive actual market and social change beyond mere technology. In line with this trend, the Daejeon Pavilion is establishing itself as a "practical innovation stage" where technologies are validated in the global market, rather than just being displayed.
Notably, Daejeon City has established and operated the Daejeon Pavilion within the "Eureka Park" at CES for three consecutive years since 2024. Eureka Park is a dedicated area for startups less than five years old and is known for its strict participation requirements. Only companies that pass rigorous evaluations based on technical innovation and growth potential are permitted to meet global investors and buyers in this space.
At CES 2026, the Daejeon Pavilion is once again located in Eureka Park, showcasing and supporting 17 startups. This demonstrates that Daejeon's startups possess the technological prowess and business viability that meet global standards from their early stages.
Furthermore, among South Korean local governments, Daejeon is the only city besides Seoul to organize and participate with a standalone pavilion in Eureka Park, drawing significant attention to the competitiveness of Daejeon's startup ecosystem.
