Cheonan Launches 'Display Innovation Process Center' to Lead Next-Generation Display Industry

Cheonan City announced on April 23rd the grand opening of the 'Display Innovation Process Center' within the Chungnam Technopark, poised to spearhead the advancement of the next-generation display industry.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Chungnam Technopark in Jiksan-eup, Seobuk-gu, was attended by approximately 300 individuals representing related organizations, affiliated companies, and research institutions.
The Display Innovation Process Center is a national project with a total investment of KRW 159.8 billion, including KRW 104.9 billion in national funds and KRW 54.9 billion in local funds. The center spans across a gross floor area of 13,320 square meters, comprising one basement level and four above-ground floors.
The primary mission of the center is to facilitate the research and development of next-generation display technologies. It will serve as a crucial testbed, equipped with pilot production lines, enabling companies to conduct technology development, testing, certification, and workforce training.
To achieve these objectives, the center has established a comprehensive infrastructure, including 63 units of 65 state-of-the-art equipment dedicated to OLED process verification and evaluation. This advanced equipment will allow companies and researchers to experiment with cutting-edge display technologies and processes.
The operation of the Display Innovation Process Center will be overseen by the Chungnam Technopark Foundation. The center will actively engage with related companies and research institutions, providing crucial support for technology demonstration and technical assistance. This collaborative environment is expected to foster innovation and accelerate the commercialization of advanced display technologies.
The establishment of the Display Innovation Process Center in Cheonan signifies a strategic move to strengthen South Korea's position in the global display market. By providing a dedicated hub for research, development, and industrial collaboration, the center aims to attract investment, nurture talent, and drive technological breakthroughs in the next generation of displays, including OLED, MicroLED, and quantum dot technologies.
