Geumsan, South Korea – The Republic of Korea Army's 32nd Infantry Division's Hanbat Brigade and the Geumsan County Mental Health Welfare Center have officially entered into a mutual cooperation agreement aimed at promoting the health and well-being of soldiers and fostering stronger ties between the military unit and the local community resource. The signing ceremony took place on Friday, March 7th.
The Hanbat Brigade had been actively seeking partnerships with relevant organizations to enhance the service environment and psychological stability of its personnel. This led to a connection with the Geumsan County Mental Health Welfare Center, which has already been instrumental in providing stress assessments and in-depth counseling for soldiers identified as needing support.
Recognizing the positive impact of these initial efforts on soldiers' stress levels and overall mental well-being, both the Hanbat Brigade and the Geumsan County Mental Health Welfare Center formalized their collaboration through the memorandum of understanding (MOU). This agreement signifies a commitment to a stronger and more enduring partnership.
Under the newly established agreement, the Hanbat Brigade and the Mental Health Welfare Center plan to implement a variety of programs designed to support the soldiers. These initiatives will include joint campaigns focused on suicide prevention and the importance of life, educational programs addressing gambling and drug abuse prevention, and training sessions on professional counseling techniques.
This partnership underscores a growing recognition of the importance of mental health support within the military and highlights the benefits of collaboration between military units and local community resources in addressing the well-being of service members. The Hanbat Brigade and the Geumsan County Mental Health Welfare Center anticipate that this formal agreement will significantly contribute to a healthier and more supportive environment for the soldiers serving in the region.
