Over a period spanning from December 2021 to July 2023, Mr. A fabricated client documents to secure unauthorized loans. Mr. A had recently transferred to another branch and subsequently submitted his resignation before disappearing. This sequence of events suggests a premeditated attempt to evade detection as the fraudulent loans approached their maturity dates.

This incident marks the second financial accident for Shinhan Bank in 2025. Just last month, the bank reported a separate fraud case involving external parties, resulting in losses of nearly 2 billion won. That incident was linked to a large-scale real estate fraud in Sejong City, where perpetrators stole identities to obtain loans.
