[BANGKOK = News K] The award ceremony for 'The 1st MYKOREA Awards in Bangkok (Organizing Committee Chairman: Yoon Doo Seob)' was held for the first time abroad in grand fashion on November 14th at the Korean Association in Bangkok, Thailand, with over 100 distinguished guests and Korean community members in attendance.

With the vision of "'Bringing the values of Korea to the world and the pride of Koreans to the future'," this inaugural event was a significant occasion to honor the contributions of individuals from various sectors who have contributed to the development and promotion of exchange between Korea and Thailand.

The ceremony, hosted by Im Jong Gwan, selected and awarded 14 laureates across a total of 8 categories: ▲Diplomacy and Administration, ▲Business and Economy, ▲Culture and Arts, ▲Social Contribution, ▲Education and Academic Studies, ▲Sports, ▲Next Generation, and ▲Special Award.

The awardees were selected through a fair evaluation by sub-category committees and included individuals who achieved practical results on the front lines of Korea-Thailand relations.

In the Diplomacy and Administration category, Kim Doo Sung and Na Hyun-woong, Counselors at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Thailand, received the award for their contributions to the stabilization of Korea-Thailand relations and the strengthening of the protection system for Korean nationals abroad.
In the Business and Economy category, Cho Byeong Seon (CEO of Nanda Trade), Choi Rang (CEO of Design M), and Wichai Meeboon (CEO of WC&M Group) were recognized for their achievements in supporting the entry of Korean companies into ASEAN and expanding industrial cooperation.
In the Culture and Arts category, Chairman Kang Eye Jong of the Korean-Thai Tourism Promotion Association, who has dedicated himself to tourism and cultural exchange for over 30 years, was selected.
In the Social Contribution category, Park Sung Chul, President of the Thai Association in Korea, for his support and service to Thais in Korea, and President Seo Yu-ok of KOWIN (Korean Women's International Network) Thailand, were selected.
In the Education and Academic Studies category, Kwon Eun Sook, Director of the Bangkok Korean Saturday School, and Kornnapha Boonphisudsilp, Associate Professor in the Department of Korean Studies at Thammasat University, received awards.
In the Sports category, Kim Kwang Il, Assistant Director of Det Anusorn School in Thailand, and Lee Na Yeon, Coach of the Thai Taekwondo Association National Poomsae Team, received awards for their efforts in Taekwondo education and strengthening international competitiveness.
The award in the Next Generation category went to Yoo Young Sang, CEO of Jandi Plus, who established an exchange model in the golf and tourism industry.
The Special Award went to Lee Gyung Jin, President of the 21st Southwest Asia Region Conference of the DPAC (Democratic Party of Korea Advisory Council on Peaceful Unification, CEO of KOREX Engineering), for leading peaceful unification education and social contribution activities.
The ceremony was attended by key figures from various sectors, including Yoon Doo Seob (Organizing Committee Chairman, President of the Korean Association in Thailand) and Jeon Ji Hye (Executive Committee Chairwoman, Editor of MYKOREA), as well as Park Yong Min (Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand), Kim Nam Hyeok (Minister-Counselor), Moon Jae Hyeok (Consul), Lee Yong Min (President of the Korean-Thai Chamber of Commerce), Jeong Sang Yoon (Director of the Bangkok IP Center of the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency), Lee Jun Chae (Chairman of the Board of the Korean International School of Bangkok), Kim Hye Hyeon (President of the Thailand Headquarters of the Korean Speech Association), Park Kwang Hee (CEO of Jinro OJR), Im Jun Ho (CEO of Jidubang), Noh Hong Ju (CEO of Plus Form), Ko Yong Chul (Editor of 'My Korea', Global Economic Times), and Oh Pung Gyun (Editor of 'News K'), who graced the event.

In addition, figures who could not attend due to unavoidable circumstances, such as Moon Hyun Tae (Director of the Korea Human Resources Development Agency EPS Center in Thailand), Hong Ji Hee (President of the DPAC Southwest Asia Region Conference), Shim Se Hwan (President of the World-OKTA Thai Chapter), Kim Jang Yeol (President of the Korean Veterans Federation Thai Branch), Jeong Seong Hee (President of the World Taekwondo Masters Union), Yoon Dae Sook (CEO of Myong-ga), Choi Hee Sook (CEO of Hangang), and Jang Su Gil (Senior Vice President of the Korean Association in Thailand), sent congratulatory messages via telegram.

In his opening address, Yoon Doo Seob, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the 1st MYKOREA Awards in Bangkok, emphasized: "The MYKOREA Awards are not simply an awards ceremony, but a place of cultural exchange to share the 'Korean spirit' with the world," adding that it is a "communication platform to rediscover and spread the passion of Koreans and Thais who have contributed to Korea's development."

Following this, in his congratulatory speech, Park Yong Min, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, conveyed a message of encouragement: "This event is a significant occasion to publicize the positive values and challenging spirit of the Republic of Korea around the world and to honor the hard work of those who have quietly dedicated themselves in their respective fields. Each of the awardees shining here today are individuals who have honored the name of Korea in their fields and conveyed Korea's dignity to the world."

Furthermore, in connection with the 18th Pulpurijachi Daesang Awards (Grassroots Local Autonomy Awards) to be held jointly next year in Bangkok, Jeon Young Joo, President of the Chungcheong Regional Newspaper Association, stated: "A platform that fosters national and social development like the MYKOREA AWARDS is a meaningful opportunity that once again recalls the public role and social responsibility of the media," and revealed: "It has been decided that the 18th Pulpurijachi Daesang Awards will be held jointly with the MYKOREA Awards in Bangkok next year."

The event not only featured the award ceremony but was also followed by a networking session among attendees after the closing, creating a place of exchange where Korean and Thai cultures merged.

The MYKOREA Awards are a program designed to expand mutual understanding between overseas Korean communities and local societies, and to spread the positive image and role of Koreans in the international community.

It was evaluated that the Bangkok event confirmed the potential of the global exchange platform to expand to countries all over the world in the future.

On the other hand, this event was hosted by the MYKOREA Awards in Bangkok Organizing Committee and supervised by MYKOREA, with sponsorship from over 20 companies, including Jinro OJR (major sponsor), CM SOLAR, Jidubang, Myong-ga, and Hangang.
