BOREONG, South Korea – The majority of beaches along South Chungcheong Province's picturesque west coast officially opened their doors to eager vacationers on July 5th, marking the start of the highly anticipated summer season. Thousands flocked to popular destinations, seeking respite from the rising temperatures and embracing the coastal charm.

Daecheon Beach Welcomes Throngs of Visitors 

Daecheon Beach in Boryeong City was particularly bustling on opening day, with an estimated 22,000 visitors by 1:00 PM. Families, couples, and friends immersed themselves in the refreshing ocean waters, while others relaxed under colorful parasols, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. The beach, renowned for its soft sand and calm waters, will operate for 51 days, until August 24th.

Adding to the excitement, the 28th Boryeong Mud Festival is set to kick off on July 25th at Daecheon Beach. This globally recognized festival, running annually since 1998, draws millions of domestic and international tourists to experience the unique health and beauty benefits of Boryeong's rich mud. Beyond the exhilarating mud-related activities, the festival typically features live music performances, cultural events, and a variety of food vendors, creating a dynamic and engaging experience for all ages.

Prioritizing Safety: Enhanced Measures at Boryeong Beaches 

Boryeong City is prioritizing the safety of its beachgoers with significant staffing and resource deployment. A maximum of 429 public officials and temporary workers will be stationed daily at Daecheon Beach, with an additional 92 personnel assigned to Muchangpo Beach, another popular spot known for its unique "Moses Miracle" phenomenon where the sea parts at low tide. These dedicated teams will oversee crowd management, respond to emergencies, and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.

Taean's Beaches Also See Influx of Swimmers 

Further north, beaches in the Taean area, including the scenic Kkotji Beach, Mongsanpo Beach, and Mallipo Beach, also reported a steady stream of water enthusiasts. Taean County is implementing a comprehensive safety plan across all its beaches. This includes deploying 406 personnel daily and investing in 77 pieces of rescue equipment. To enhance emergency response capabilities, the county has acquired 10 new jet skis and 16 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). Additionally, five mobile surveillance towers have been strategically placed to provide enhanced monitoring of swimming areas and ensure rapid response to any incidents.

Taean's coastline is part of the Taean Haean National Park, which is celebrated for its diverse ecosystems, including sand dunes, rocky shores, and lush pine forests. Beyond swimming, visitors to Taean's beaches can enjoy various activities such as clam digging, exploring tidal flats, and hiking along coastal trails. The region is also famous for its fresh seafood, offering a delightful culinary experience.
