The Bucheon Workers' Rest Support Center, operated by the Bucheon Foundation for Youth and Women, announced that it is releasing the beta version of "Today's Respect Type," an online content initiative designed to help people reflect on emotional labor and respect in daily life.
The content consists of comics tailored for teenagers and adults, along with a scenario-based respect type diagnosis. Participants can follow the daily lives of characters in the comics or choose responses to everyday situations to examine their own words and behaviors. Users can explore the comics and the diagnosis in any order they prefer.
The youth comic, titled A Respectful Citizen's Day, follows five friends preparing for a band practice as they navigate common daily encounters at convenience stores, buses, and deliveries. The adult comic, Half-Day Off in the Afternoon, portrays the day of a protagonist who experiences life both as a worker in the morning and as a service-using citizen in the afternoon. The respect type diagnosis is divided into youth and adult versions, prompting users to choose how they would speak and act in various settings such as classrooms, convenience stores, workplaces, customer service desks, and delivery apps.
The center focused on the reality that both teenagers and adults are simultaneously emotional labor workers and citizens who influence the labor of others. Rather than grand gestures, the content was designed to encourage people to look back at the simple words they exchange and the attitudes they project toward others in everyday life. The diagnostic results do not rank types by superiority; instead, they serve as an opportunity for participants to review their own response styles. The selection process is not saved, and final type results are compiled anonymously.
Last year, the center introduced the term "Respectful Citizen"—referring to citizens who respect emotional labor—to the local community, proposing a citizen checklist for emotional labor respect as a way to self-examine personal attitudes. This year, the center has expanded this initiative into comic and scenario-based content, making it easier for teenagers and citizens to participate.
The content will be introduced at the Emotional Labor Respect Week Forum on October 15, and anyone can experience it on the "Today's Respect Type" web app page (https://respect-week.vercel.app/type). The center plans to refine the content based on feedback gathered during the beta operation period.
This content was independently developed by the center as part of the Bucheon Foundation for Youth and Women's AX (AI Transformation) Challenger Practice Project. Artificial intelligence was utilized in the process of translating the project's goal of emotional labor respect into engaging, participatory content for citizens.
Meanwhile, the Bucheon Workers' Rest Support Center operates spaces, counseling, and lecture programs for the healing and recovery of emotional labor workers, and continues to drive awareness-raising projects to protect the rights and interests of emotional labor workers.
