Seoul, South Korea – The Cultural Heritage Administration's Royal Palaces and Tombs Center, in collaboration with the National Gugak Center, is set to host a series of 29 special Gugak (Korean traditional music) performances at Seoul's four major royal palaces: Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Deoksugung, and Changgyeonggung, from April to September. This grand event will showcase a diverse range of court music and dance from the Joseon Dynasty to the Korean Empire, offering visitors an unforgettable cultural experience.

Highlights of the Performances:

Changdeokgung Yeongyeongdang: From April 8th to 12th, the "Changdeokgung Pungnyu 1828, Yeongyeongdang" performance will recreate the enchanting scenes from the 1828 40th birthday celebration for Queen Sunwon.
The program will feature dances created by Crown Prince Hyomyeong, along with various musical pieces such as "Chuita·Gilgunak," "Cheongseonggok," "Chimhyangchun," and "Pyojeongmanbangjigok."
Performances will be held at 3 PM on weekdays, and at 11 AM and 3 PM on Saturdays.
Changgyeonggung Tongmyeongjeon: From May 13th to 17th, and again from September 9th to 13th, the evening banquet held to celebrate Queen Sunwon's 60th birthday in 1848 will be reenacted.
The National Gugak Center's Jeongakdan (traditional orchestra) will perform, with shows starting at 7 PM nightly.
Gyeongbokgung Sujeongjeon: At Sujeongjeon, the hall where the Hall of Worthies (Jiphyeonjeon) was located, known for creating the Korean alphabet Hangeul, performances will feature pieces from the Sejong era.
The National Gugak Center's Jeongakdan and Dance Troupe will perform from May 21st to 24th, and again from September 17th to 20th, with shows starting at 7:30 PM.
Deoksugung Seokjojeon: From September 2nd to 6th, Deoksugung's Seokjojeon will host a Gugak orchestra performance, featuring music beloved by Emperor Gojong.
The National Gugak Center's Creative Music Group will perform, with shows starting at 7:30 PM.

Ticketing Information:

Tickets for the Changdeokgung Yeongyeongdang performances will be available for purchase starting March 18th at 2 PM through the National Gugak Center website and by phone (02-580-3300). Seating is limited to 50 people per show on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets for the Changgyeonggung, Gyeongbokgung, and Deoksugung performances will be available for purchase three weeks prior to each performance date through the National Gugak Center website and by phone.
